ABOUT
Welcome to EPHyC!
EPHyC is an annual conference dedicated exclusively to PhD researchers based in Europe who are conducting research on hydrogen-related topics.

Organised by Hydrogen Europe Research in collaboration with a different host institution each year, EPHyC provides a unique platform for early-career researchers to present their work, exchange ideas, and build lasting connections within the European hydrogen research community.

The third edition took place on 1-3 June 2026 in Trondheim, Norway, co-organised with HYDROGENi, SINTEF, and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

In 2027, EPHyC will take place in Sønderborg, Denmark, hosted by the University of Southern Denmark.
Why this conference?
Hydrogen continues to play a central role in Europe's research and innovation landscape. While many conferences showcase advances in hydrogen technologies, they are often geared towards established researchers and industry professionals. Until EPHyC, there was no European conference designed exclusively for PhD researchers working on hydrogen.

EPHyC was created to fill that gap.

Our mission is to provide a dedicated platform where PhD researchers can present their work, exchange ideas, develop new skills, and build a strong European network. Whether you are just beginning your doctoral journey or preparing to defend your thesis, EPHyC offers an inclusive environment tailored to every stage of PhD research.

Unlike traditional conferences, EPHyC places PhD researchers at the centre of the programme. Presenting to peers encourages valuable feedback, fosters collaboration, sparks interdisciplinary connections, and inspires new research opportunities.

Organised by PhD researchers for PhD researchers, EPHyC is built around the needs and aspirations of the next generation of hydrogen scientists.

To ensure the conference is accessible to everyone, participation is completely free of charge.

With contributions from
The conference is organised and primarily financed by Hydrogen Europe Research, an international non-profit association grouping universities and research centres across Europe and beyond.

In 2027, EPHyC will be supported by the University of Southern Denmark.
